Dark Heart

Circus of Books presents Dark Heart, a provocative new art exhibition curated by Sküt on display in West Hollywood, February 14 – March 17 2025.

Featuring seven local gay artists including Colton Tran (TransylVinyl), Cosmo Bertollini (Chaos.Mgmt), Miko Malo, Sumner Mormeneo, Steven Rahbany, Kal Yee, and Sküt.

This art exhibition delves into the edgier side of queer contemporary art, with stunning alt visuals of a deliciously dark flavor.

You all know this crew. Three impossibly pink figures stand huddled, their long necks craned together in a conspiratorial circle. Their beady eyes dart nervously around, scanning the scene for the next juicy tidbit. Beaks clatter incessantly, feathers ruffle, and the air crackles with whispered secrets about the unsuspecting flock nearby. This is Chisme, and their names are Whiskey, Tango, and Foxtrot.

A bright yellow diamond sign mimics the classic pedestrian crossing symbol, but instead of a walking figure, a sassy flamingo silhouette mid-stride takes center stage. The iconic design, a playful nod to urban street art, leaves a lingering question: just where is these fabulous flamingo off to?

Cerberus

A hyper-graphic acrylic painting explodes with the image of a flamingo, its fantastical form multiplied and distorted. Three heads twist and preen, their eyes gleaming with an otherworldly intensity. This Cerberus of the fabulous guards the gateway to all things pink, its vibrant plumage a testament to the flamboyant chaos that lies beyond.

A monumental flamingo head protrudes from the wall, its core crafted from sustainably upcycled aluminum. Tribal patterns dance across its sculpted surface, hand-molded from apoxie clay. Its single, piercing eye, painted with startling realism, fixates you, leaving an unsettling question: is this majestic beast admiring you, or sizing you up for its next meal?
