Flock Flamingo Pop Art Collection By Sküt Debuts In Upon Yonder, A Mystical Art Exhibition From Six Local Artists At La Luz De Jesus Gallery In Los Feliz
Artis Sküt debuts a new pop art collection Flock showcasing the flamingo as a queer icon. Sküt joins six other local Los Angeles based artists for this musical group exhibition Upon Yonder, showing through May 2024 at La Luz De Jesus Gallery In Los Feliz.
Sküt’s Flock explores a hyperpop take on popular flamingo tropes with wild exaggerated sculpture forms, intense neon phosphorescent colors, and a range of hanging wall media. The centerpiece of the collection, “Chisme” is a triptych of hand-sculpted flamingo figurines, each standing roughly 36” tall.
Sustainability is a recurring theme in Sküt’s art, with many of the materials upcycled from common household waste. Each sculpture’s core is made from aluminum cans to create something beautiful from what is typically discarded.
Flock is on display as part of Upon Yonder through the end of May 2024.
